God’s Word teaches us that our human body is considered His temple and exists for His honor and glory.  The instructor’s desire is that students in 9th grade health / physical education will honor God by learning to use their bodies (His temple) to pursue fitness of abilities, actions, thoughts and attitudes.  This course consists of both classroom health instruction and physical education activities during each quarter throughout the year and is a Central Christian School graduation requirement.

I Corinthians 6:20 is the theme verse for the health portion of the class, and it clearly indicates ownership of our human body belongs to God.  It states,  “For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”  The theme verse for the physical education aspect of the class indicates that exercise and hard work are profitable, however it is godliness that holds promise for eternity.  I Timothy 4:8 states, “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.”  Students are challenged to make life applications of these two verses in the health / physical education class.

Students in health / physical education are expected to:

  1. Develop a knowledge and understanding of the human body and it’s ability to move, think and act according to God’s design.
  2. Demonstrate attitudes and behavior consistent with Christian character.
