God’s Word teaches us that our human body is considered His temple and exists for His honor and glory. The instructor’s desire is that students in advanced physical education will honor God by developing knowledge, skills and interest in recreational activities. This course is an elective designed for students who desire to learn activities that could occupy their future leisure time.
The theme verse for this class indicates that exercise and hard work are profitable, however it is godliness that holds promise for eternity. I Timothy 4:8 states, “ For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come.“ The students will be encouraged to maintain fitness through participation in recreational and leisure time activities.
Students in advanced physical education will be expected to:
- Comprehend the basic terms, rules, strategies and historical origins associated with each activity.
- Participate in activities with attitudes and behavior consistent with Christian character.
- Demonstrate skill and abilities on a specified performance test for a given activity.
- Access, analyze and judge information associated with a given activity.
- Recognize the benefits and value of recreational and leisure time activities.
The student will observe the following classroom rules & policies:
- Wear modest shorts, t-shirts and wear shoes appropriate for the activity.
- Be within the confines of the locker room before the tardy bell rings.
- Be in assigned attendance area within (3) three minutes of the tardy bell.
- Be responsible for completing all assigned class work.'
- Adhere to safety precautions and rules as presented by the instructor.
- Remain in supervised location until dismissed by the instructor.
- Participate in activities as directed by the instructor.
Students will be evaluated by the following standards and grades are reported quarterly:
- Physical Education homework includes completion of score sheets, current event reports and studying activity study guides.
- A daily grade of 5 points is awarded in physical education units for compliance with the stated class policies. One (1) point is deducted for each infraction of policy numbers 1-7. Unexcused non - participation will receive a 0.
- A skill grade is given for each physical education unit.
- A knowledge grade is given for each written test per physical education unit.
- A comprehensive test is given at the end of each semester.
- Students must achieve a 60% or higher score on the evaluations cited above to pass the course.

Students are expected to have shoes and clothing meeting the dress code and appropriate for the activity. Homework assignments are limited to students reading related information outside of class. Students are expected to access media (newspaper, magazine, television, internet) for information suitable for completion of each current event report.
