Worldview:
Earth/Space Science is taught from a Christian perspective, keeping in mind that God created and is in control of all that we study.
Grading:
Students will complete reading assignments, review questions, laboratory exercises and tests. They will be graded on classroom participation, reading quizzes, homework assignments (including laboratory analysis), and tests. Each assignment is given a point value and each student will receive a certain number of points out of the total number possible. Late work: 1 day late = 90%, 2 days late = 80%, 3 days late = 70%, 4 days late – 60%, 5 days late – no credit
Expectations:
To succeed in Earth/Space Science students must prepare for class by reading the assigned reading, completing the homework on time, and studying in preparation for exams.
Plan Ahead:
On a whiteboard in my classroom I keep a list of all assignments for the current week. It also indicates any tests coming up the following week. Students should take note of this information at the beginning of the week so that they can plan according to the activities they have. This should allow plenty of test preparation time as many times the students know about tests over a week before they occur.
Teacher Ease:
Student grades are recorded and updated on a secure Internet website (www.teacherease.com). Students and parents can access this information at any time to check the progress of the student. I also use this information to communicate with parents about missing or incomplete assignments. Contact me if you are not currently set up to access the website or if you have any questions.
Supplies:
Students will need at least a two-inch 3 ring binder that is used solely for this class. They will also need pencils, notebook paper, five dividers for their binder, and a scientific calculator.
