PTF loves our CCS AR Stars.  Keep encouraging your children to meet the goals for their class!!!

What is AR (Accelerated Reader)?

AR is a learning information system that enables freestanding computer-assisted assessment of student comprehension of real books.  This reading program helps aid teachers in monitoring the students’ progress in both quantity and quality of reading practice.   The student selects an AR book from the classroom or the library, and after reading the book independently, they go to the computer and take a multiple choice, comprehension test on the book’s content.  They then get a score based on the length and difficulty of the book.  This is how they earn AR points.  This is a program that goes at the pace of the student.  Teachers can also allow the student to be tested on books read aloud in class.

At CCS we have many AR books and tests available K-6th grade.  Please ask your child’s teacher for more information of what they are doing in their classroom.  AR is a great tool in developing students who love to read.

Congratulations to all those who met their reading goals for the first semester.   Keep up the good work.
