Academic Overview for Central Christian School
Central Christian School strives to help students develop academically through a Christ-centered curriculum and encourages students to yield their lives to God. A strong academic program requires a work ethic and discipline on the part of students.
The heart of education is the education of the heart at CCS. Molding the heart as well as enhancing the mind is our ultimate goal for each student. We endeavor to help each student findGod’s purpose for their life and then work toward that end.
For the elementary students, reading instruction is phonics based. Participation in the Accelerated Reading program begins in 1st grade. Library lessons are taught every week. The events and characters in the Bible are studied daily and verses are memorized weekly. Spelling and math are included in daily academics as are science, history, and health. Physical Education classes are held daily and music classes are held three times a week. Students experience art on a weekly basis. Behavior plans are built into the workday to develop Christ-like characteristics.
