Feature Teacher: Mrs. Denice Kuhns
Central Christian School is proud to have a new kindergarten teacher this year! Mrs. Kuhns graduated from Southwestern OK State University with dual BS degrees in Elementary Education and Special Education/ Learning Disabilities. Her philosophy as a teacher is “to take each student where they are in the learning process and move them forward. Everyone develops/learns at different rates. My job is to determine where they are and begin there. I also believe a student must feel loved and secure in order for learning to take place.”
A main goal for Mrs. Kuhns’ students is “to learn the importance of obedience with a cheerful heart; to understand that obedience is a life skill that brings blessings.” Her most memorable moment at CCS so far was the day a student called her “Mom”- Mrs. Kuhns knew they were finally settling in!
Mrs. Kuhns is married to our wonderful new administrator, Mr. Tim Kuhns! They are the proud parents of three grown children: Stacy, Nicole, and Tim- all graduates of Christian schools. “We praise God for the influence of godly teachers in their lives. We know what a difference it made in their lives!”
Feature Teacher: Mrs. Kristin Spicer
Mrs. Spicer is the new fourth grade teacher at Central Christian School! She is a graduate of Tabor College with a degree in Elementary Education. Mrs. Spicer and her husband, Tim, have six children: Levi, Ethan, Seth, Abi, Noah, and Isaac. “Each one is very musical/artistic in some way. God passed that down through Tim,” states Mrs. Spicer. The Spicer family attends Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church where Mrs. Spicer serves as one of the pianists for the worship team, helps with the 5th and 6th grade class on Wednesday evenings and is part of an amazing Sunday school and small group.
Mrs. Spicer’s teaching philosophy stems from her desire for herself and her students to become more Christ-like. “I love being able to relate every subject to God’s creation, His plan… praying through a struggle… being reminded we should be doing everything for God’s glory… treating each other in love… forgiveness… and so much more!”
One of the many things Mrs. Spicer enjoys about teaching is “seeing the students grow and improve daily, being excited about learning, and conquering something they thought would be impossible.” She is also very amazed at what fourth graders will do for a jelly bean or an M&M!
